pre-kindergarten

Pre-Kindergarten is for children who are turning five in the fall after September 1, are ready for more structure, and are getting ready for Kindergarten. All pre-kindergarten classrooms have 10 students or less.

St. Paul's Preschool has been caring for children in Roseburg since 1980. We strive to create an environment of loving, learning, and fun for each child. Our teachers engage in continuing education and work to stay current on early learning practices and teaching techniques. At St. Paul we offer an interactive learning environment and a warm and loving place where each child is cared for and nurtured.

St. Paul is participating in the pilot QRIS (Quality Rating and Improvement System), and has its fourth-star rating, which means we exceed essential evaluation standards that support quality early learning for all children (Click here to learn more).

Our pre-kindergarten uses developmentally appropriate practices and an intentionally designed center based curriculum. This includes a combination of play-based experiences with teacher-directed and child-initiated activities. Theory and research shows there is a direct relationship between active social play and early language and literacy development which is what drives the content of the curriculum in our language arts and creative arts classrooms.
